This past year, I got the opportunity to participate in multiple styled shoots that made my heart skip a beat or two. Like, seriously. If the happiness I get when creating the beautimous details isn’t evidence enough, the energy that fuels me when working at these styled shoots and the butterflies I get in my tum when looking through these photos tells me I am absolutely, positively pursuing the right work. Cheers to that!
Styled shoots are such an amazing creative outlet. They allow me the chance to think outside the box and push boundaries for materials and design. Sometimes couples just need a good visual to know what they like and to see what’s possible. Styled shoots are a great opportunity to show couples these creative possibilities and how they can be styled on the big day.
This whimsically modern shoot was hosted by the incredible duo, Renee Breanne Design and Steph Kadlicko from 5th Fine Art at the gorgeous venue, The Northern Haus. When these two gals get together, I’m telling you, they make magic happen. I am in love with their vibe and what they bring to the table: see jaw-dropping images as evidence below. This team of vendors did such a stellar job.
I mean, come on. The dress, the colors, the venue. Swoon.
The invitation suite I created for this shoot was complete with dusty blue text, hand written calligraphy, and deckled edges. I absolutely loved the envelope liners in this suite. Gorgeous, handmade paper with dried florals. The entire suite was daintily tucked away in a vellum jacket, wrapped in a dusty blue ribbon. These details gave vintage, romantic feel. I played with scale and my handwritten calligraphy to keep it fresh and interesting. And I have to say, I loved the finished results so very much.
I also absolutely love styled shoots for the fact that they connect me with SO many amazingly talented wedding professionals. Honestly, an experience that is invaluable. I have made many lasting connections with talented, knowledgeable, and driven folks. I always learn so much from them AND have a blast while doing it. Personal connections and referrals are worth their weight in gold. Plus, from a purely human standpoint, how nice is it to work with other fellow people that love the things that you love?! In my experiences, working on styled shoots has led to friendships, friendor-ships, and as an added bonus, some great referrals.
Lisa from Sunborn Gardens created the most perfect, romantic floral arrangements that I am still drooling over.
Delicate, dainty touches are my love language. I wanted to add some modern touches and play with shape in my menu and bar sign designs.
I just can’t say speak more highly of all the vendors involved in this shoot.
Lots of learning has come from the different styled shoots I’ve participated in and I can’t wait for future collaborations with all that new learning in my back pocket. We’ll finish this post off with some more gorgeousness from this shoot. Because, did they miss a single detail here? Absolutely freaking not. Enjoy, my pals!
Let me first tell you how happy I am that you’re here. I have many passions and I am grateful to be able to bring many of them into my daily life. I have always been creative, but never knew what my niche was until I met calligraphy. When I am not at my desk creating, I work as a Bilingual Resource Teacher in an elementary school (my second language is Spanish!). I also love spending quality time with my people, reading, cooking, exercising, or enjoying the outdoors.
