Hey there! I’m Shi. Pronounced, Sh-Y. Not short for anything, just Shi. Wondering if I’m actually “shy”? Sure am! My own magnificent version; in an introvert/extrovert, slightly awkward, empathetic, fun-loving, happy go lucky, type of way.
Okay, onto the good stuff.
I’m the gal behind the ink. And I am SO happy you’re here. It has been a short, but wild ride to get to where I am today, writing this lil’ ol’ blog post. Let’s rewind to the very beginning of the pandemic (I’m SO sorry to take you back there… I know, we’re all still recovering).
I’m stuck at home with my *then* newly named fiancé, and in dire need of a new hobby. If you know me, you know that I have ALWAYS had a new craft or hobby at the ready. Nothing really ever stuck or felt like my niche until I met calligraphy. I found a free class online, and the rest is history. I couldn’t put down the pen. I’ve always had an affinity for words, all things pretty, and the cutest stationery supplies. This truly felt like fate.
I decided I wanted to create some of the details for our own wedding and I officially fell in love.
From there, I had some great friends and family support me by trusting my newbie self to create some special things for them. I gained clients little by little and got what I would consider my first big wedding in May of 2022. Seriously crazy to think that’s just a year ago. HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, LETTERED BY SHI!!!
On the day-to-day, I absolutely love creating for you and your most special moments. It brings me so much joy and satisfaction that I feel I’ve been missing in my life for too long. I am ever grateful that I get to spend my days doing something I truly love. In addition to the creating portion, I absolutely love the “humanness” in the experiences and exchanges that I have with my clients. Getting to know you, your love stories, and what’s important to you is what brings this all full circle. In addition to that work, a little fact about me is that I’m also a Bilingual Resource Teacher at an Elementary School. My second language is Spanish and I get to work part-time with my other passion in this life, education.
I really don’t love the spotlight, so I’ll be short and sweet in sharing a little list of some of the things I love, apart from calligraphy and growing my beloved biz:
A good book. Specifically, fiction. After my Master’s Program in Curriculum & Instruction, I need a good and long respite from the Non-Fiction Genre
A nice walk in nature with my sweet pup, Parker, and hubby by my side
Cooking, exercising, four-wheeling, being up north, painting for funsies
Reality TV 🙂 Specifically, Vanderpump Rules or The Real Housewives. No drama in my life, please, but I am here for ALL the drams that these shows give
A nice Red Blend or a great cup of coffee
Shopping, obv
Most importantly, spending time with my people. Family and friends that are family mean absolutely everything to me
So, that’s me in a nutshell. Thanks for reading, thanks so much for being here, and don’t hesitate to reach out! I would love to get to know you and chat.
Let me first tell you how happy I am that you’re here. I have many passions and I am grateful to be able to bring many of them into my daily life. I have always been creative, but never knew what my niche was until I met calligraphy. When I am not at my desk creating, I work as a Bilingual Resource Teacher in an elementary school (my second language is Spanish!). I also love spending quality time with my people, reading, cooking, exercising, or enjoying the outdoors.
